Detailed: 2013 Ford Taurus SHO

Got this beast on Tuesday and had very little time to work on it (always seems that I have very little time for one reason or another) so not a lot of before and after pictures.

Here are some before pictures just to give you an idea of how the car looked wen I received.

After I cleaned the wheels and tires and before I wash the car, I used the foam gun to foam the car.

The car had plenty of scratches all over, one scratch specifically was nasty and drop, took me 4 passes with the Flex 3401 to get it all out. Here's a before picture (notice the white line that's a combination of a scratch and a scuff marks):

 After:

Another one that wasn't as nasty was on the driver's side mirror. Here's a before shot:

After:

A common area that sees a lot of traffic from opening and closing the front doors are the B-pillars. This car, like a lot others, have shiny plastic B-pillars. Here's a before picture (notice how the plastic looks oxidized and the flash is not reflecting properly):

After:

Finally one area I focused on was the exhaust tips. The exhaust tips had what looked like black tar that wouldn't come off easy so I had to keep at it with a rougher microfiber towel and my metal polish. I also used a drill with a blue foam pad specifically for polishing metal. Here's a pic of the pad

Here's a before picture of the exhaust tip:

Here's an after picture:

Next, I tackled the trim the Taurus SHO has a black plastic trim all around the car including the lower bumper grill, here's a 50/50 shot:

I can tell that the trim was dry as it required a little more chemical than usual because the trim was absorbing a lot.

Finally, here are some after shots at the customer's location:

Detailed: 2012 Volvo T5 AWD

This is a quick writeup as the customer needed the car by 5 pm and I couldn't start any earlier than 8 am so there was no time for a lot of pictures.

As always, before washing the car I started by cleaning the wheels, exhaust tips and the engine bay, here are some before and after shots.

Wheels and tires, before and after

Exhaust tips, before and after

Engine bay, before and after

Now, it was time to wash the car with my foam gun and power washer. The power washer helps with bugs, tar and other dirt on the wheels, wheel wells and tires while the foam gun provides a good lubrication layer between the washing mat and the paint. Also, the power washer is great in removing dust and other particles on the car that can increase the chance of scratches during washing.

After I was done washing, I did the plastic bag test and realized that the car finish is in bad shape, a clay was needed and here's a picture of what came off of it! Keep in mind that this was after a wash, they don't clay your car at the local "hand car wash"

After the clay was done, I started polishing, here's a quick before and after

The customer specifically pointed out to one nasty scratch on the driver side rear fender and I was able to remove almost 95% of it.

Finally, it was time to take care of the interior. Here are some before and after

Floor mats, before and after

Backset, before and after

Trunk, before and after

For those of you who have been reading my blog or know me in person, know that I obsess over details and that's one of the main aspects that really differentiate a detail from a car wash. I noticed that the letters on the trunk were dirty in the tight spots, your average detailer will probably miss that and forget about getting in there with a car wash, here are some before and after

Before, notice the dirt stuck on the inside of the letter

After, notice the mirror finish

And my best shots, REFLECTIONS!
